Abstract: Creation and adoption of solutions based on industry standards can be daunting when faced with long documentation that describes the use of disparate complex technologies. A practical demonstration of a representative sample of connected solutions however, is a great way to visualize, experience and understand the nuances, effects and benefits of the use of the IPC-1782A internal and external traceability standard in action. In this presentation, we enact several scenarios associated with the movement of materials from the point of origin, to the point of consumption in a completed product, demonstrating the ability to eliminate the ingress of counterfeit materials throughout the supply-chain, that would otherwise reach the point of use undetected. The principles shown are of extreme importance to anyone who needs to have absolute trust in their material suppliers and distributors, no matter where the materials may have come from. Since the standard is intended for global use throughout the supply-chain, this will be of key interest to anyone concerned with supply-chain management, shipping, quality, logistics, etc.
